About Us...
Hello & Welcome,
Being A Husband/Father & a Journeyman multi-media artist with wide ranging artistic, technical, web, business, public relations & marketing experience since 1984 our founder R. Thomas Boyd chose to create Great Hand Graphics. A mentor once said he has a gift for seeing and creating what others dream. His career began as a student and apprentice artist/craftsman in several prominent Northern Illinois sign shops as well as formal training. Each school/shop focused on different aspects of art, fabrication & all aspects of the industry in general. At times he spends many hours hand lettering menu boards or show cards, designing logos, developing projects, executing applications and fabrications. Through experience we have evolved to include not only the Old World Techniques but also, Computer Aided design, Production, Web Art/Design, Web Promotion, and Marketing. There is not an aspect of our profession we’ve not spent some, if not a volume of time doing.
In the past "Tom" has worked as a apprentice and then foreman of the engraved/sandblasted structural sign company, Parkway Signs. He was again apprentice then foreman at a prominent old world billboard shop, Duo Signs. At yet another time he worked for 43 sign companies as a specialist advisor, technician and servicemen. Later in his career, the design, hand lettering and computer graphics expertise lead him to Chicago & the vibrant restaurant industry. There he became a lead multi-media artist for many prominent individuals & corporations. To date you may see his (our) work mostly in Northern Illinois & Southern Wisconsin, but also all around the country & world. Over the years we’ve worked with many businesses, shared our skills & watched our clients grow. We love seeing the work we do impact the image & prosperity of our customers & friends.
With Scott Fennessy (business, management, marketing & customer service) as well as our technical staff and assorted out of house services we’ve incorporated over the years, we began to develop Great Hand Graphics. Great Hand Graphics is a portal to the best old world design & marketing techniques evolved to include the technologies of today through Engineering, Graphic Presentation, Web, Print & Social media. A complete package to manage multi media art for maximum impact, contribution & return.
