Good day,
My name is Tom Boyd. A Husband/Father & I’ve been
an Old World Sign Writer for 26 years. I am a journeyman
multi-media artist with extraordinary technical,
business, public relations & marketing experience. A
mentor once said I have a gift for seeing and creating
what others dream. My career began as a student and
apprentice artist/craftsman in several prominent
Northern Illinois sign shops as well as formal training.
Each school/shop focused on different aspects of the art
forms and the industry in general. At times I’ve spent
many hours hand lettering menu boards or show cards,
designing logos, developing projects, executing
applications and fabrications. My experience has evolved
through the years to include not only the Old World
Techniques but also, computer aided design, production,
web design, public relations and marketing. There is
not an aspect of my profession I’ve not spent some, if
not a volume of time doing.
In the past I’ve worked as a apprentice and then
foreman of an engraved/sandblasted sign company, Parkway
Signs. I was again apprentice then foreman at a
prominent old world billboard shop, Duo Signs. At yet
another time a tech. friend of mine & I worked for 43
sign companies as a resource. As specialist advisors,
technicians and servicemen. Later in my career, the
design, hand lettering and computer graphics expertise
lead me (I suppose inevitably) to Chicago & the vibrant
restaurant industry. There I was a lead multi-media
artist for many prominent individuals & corporations. To
date you may see my (our) work mostly in No. Illinois &
So. Wisconsin but also all around the country.
Over the years I’ve worked with many businesses,
shared my skills & watched my clients grow. I love
seeing the work I do impact the image & prosperity of my
customers & friends. My focus has been toward marketing
my (our) skills in a more focused and concerted fashion
to create the best possible resource.
I’ve recently began our new graphics division which
includes newly … Scott Fennessy (business, management,
marketing & customer service), as well as other
technicians and assorted out of house services I’ve
incorporated over the years, we’ve began to develop
Great Hand Graphics.
